One amazing feature of the Edit Paths by Nodes tool that may be overlooked is the highlight path function. With the Edit Paths by Nodes tool selected any path you hover over will have a green highlight. When it is highlighted you can select that specific path when clicked. This means you can use the tool to easily find the path you want to select in a stack of many.

Myna has some very useful commands that can be used on selections. Once a section of a clip is selected you can perform the following actions. You can access these functions from the right click context menu or from the Edit menu.
Cut - this function deletes section and places a copy on the clipboard.
Copy - this function places a copy of the selection on the clipboard
Delete - this function will delete the selection
Trim - this function will delete everything that is not in the selection. Thus only the section will remain.
Split Clip - this function will separate the clip at the spots where the selection starts and where it ends. It will leave two to three separate clips.

Phoenix/Peacock -- Simulate Stroke 8:07 PM
There is no dedicated Stroke feature in Phoenix but you can use the Layer Filter Glow to simulate one. Add a Glow to your layer and greatly increase the Strength parameter, this will make the fade out of the glow very abrupt. The glow will appear to be a Stroke around your layer. This can also be done with the Glow hub if you are work in Peacock.

Peacock -- Quick mask with Flood Fill 8:35 PM
In certain circumstances you can use the flood fill to create a quick mask. Set the Alpha to 0 in the Flood Fill's properties and wherever the fill is will be made transparent, like it has been masked. This can save you from having to use several hubs to remove simple background.
